In this month’s ‘Point of view’ section, we have a look at
Mr. Amit Patel’s
(MD, Sintex Group) perspective on the spirit of innovation and people management at Sintex.

SPIRIT OF INNOVATION
We are often asked by people in India and across the globe: what 'Active Thinking' is?
Mr. Amit Patel

'Active thinking' is nothing but a seamless process of innovation in product ideas, business models, manufacturing processes, markets, alliances, management policies and, more importantly, in mindsets.

It drives us to find ideas on the front pages of news papers make uncommon sense out of a common place and sustained/long lasting propositions from one-time wonders. In most of our products, every time we make a sale, it serves three generations.

It drives us to isolate, introspect, imagine and thus innovate.

WE VALUE PEOPLE
The employee culture at Sintex is something that we value and practice. The successful companies that we hear about daily are committed not only externally, but also internally towards their employees. Google, for example, is considered as the number one company in the world to work with. No doubt the products that Google has to offer are path-breaking and innovative, but when you go a little deeper you will find that it also has a strong employee culture.

At Sintex, we believe that only ‘freedom can bind’ individuals. Employees at Sintex have no bindings on them. They can bring out ideas they feel can be developed into a meaningful product by the expertise and experience of Sintex. At Sintex we willingly nurture those ideas and handhold them with support of manufacturing processes, marketing budgets and actively encourage them to become profit centers.

Every individual has a skill set of his own which is useful in some field or the other. It is not necessary that an employee who leaves an organization is a non performer; it could also be that the organization was a misfit for his set of skills. This is one perspective that we always keep in mind.
